Is there a way to turn off the sound on the touch buttons for a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop?
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, and the touch buttons have an almost chirping noise, which I have found to be annoying since I've owned the laptop. Is there a way to change the sound or turn it off completely? I know someone with the same laptop, but with a few downgraded specs on it where his buttons only make a quiet clicking noise.
no. I have this notebook too. no way to change Its sound.even in linux it have same sound. by the way you can chat with HP.com (contact us) to get your answer.

Can I play Battlefield 3 Alpha with HP Pavillion dv6000?
Yesterday I was invited to test out the alpha for EA's battlefield 3. I installed origin and the game and followed all the instructions given. when it came time to play the game and start a match an error message would pop up saying : DIRECTX DEVICE CREATION ERROR (as the heading)
couldn't create D3D11 device of atleast 10.0 on adapter "Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family" with driver unknown". Failed with DXGI_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED error ("Unsupported."). Are compatible HW and drivers installed?
I was not sure what this error message meant so i was wondering if it had to do with my specs. I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 entertainment PC. the specs required to play the alpha are here: http://bf3blog.com/2011/07/battlefield-3-alpha-trial-and-recommended-system-specs/
I believe the specs for my laptop are here ( I am not sure if they are correct though) : http://www.laptopsetc.net/Article-HP_Pavilion_dv6000_Specs.shtml
I was wondering if someone could compare both pages and help me to see if I cannot play the alpha based on my computers specs. Also if you know what the error message means it would greatly appreciated if you could post the meaning and maybe a solution to my problem also.
Hard to tell from the info you supplied as your hardware can be basic or you may have a laptop with added hardware. For instance that laptop can come with only 512mb of ram or 2gb May only have Intel 965 graphics or a discrete geforce 7200. Bf3 requires recommended 4gb of ram and graphics of 512mb or greater. If I were to guess I would say your laptop simply does not meet the minimum requirements especially when it comes to graphics. If you have no discrete card and only rely on Intel graphics then there is nothing you can do,your graphics will not run that game. Need to know more info like do you have 2gb of ram or only 512mb,does your laptop have a discrete graphics card or is it integrated Intel only?
Is the memory in an HP Pavilion dv6000 upgradable?
I have a Hewitt Packard Pavilion dv6000 and I believe the specs are 1gb of RAM and 120 gigs of Hard Drive space. I was wonering if anyone has a link to the amount I can upgrade this pc to, if I can at all. Also if it can handle DDR3 or stick with DDR2 Thanks
DDR3 is not an "upgrade" to a DDR2... DDR3 just is a definition of shape and prongs of a memory stick. An upgrade for your system would be 2 or 4 gig DDR2 sticks. Also, DDR2 chips are the most inexpensive chips right now.
Which is better? an HP pavilion dv6000 or a Macbook?
HP tech specs:AMD Turion 64, dual core processor
2 GB DDR2 memory
15.4″ WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7200
160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
1.3 Megapixel Webcam with mic built into screen
Altec Lansing speakers built in
3 USB ports, ExpressCard/54 Slot, Video Out, Integrated Consumer IR, 1 RJ-11, 1 RJ-45
Macbook tech specs:2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory, 160GB hard drive, Double-layer SuperDrive
Based on my own personal reasearch and experience, I would aviod the HP. I purchased an HP desktop and had problems with it from the very begining. I think their customer support has much to be desired as well. Given the two choices you indicated, the Mackbook would be a better choice.
